In this revised portrait of my classmate Lizzie Dalton, I attempted to put more emphasis on her object of choice and her specific relationship with it. I still utilized an outdoor setting but decided to include a splash of greenery to add life to the shot, as the previous portrait contained a more muted background. The greener background simultaneously acts to add flavor to the picture as well as to contrast against her lighter tones. This picture is also improved from a compositional standpoint with fewer focal points to distract from Lizzie's relationship with her ring. I feel that this is a much stronger shot overall thanks to these changes.

My Classmate Lizzie Dalton and Her Favorite Item
The main focal points of this portrait are my classmate, Lizzie Dalton, and her carefully handcrafted ring. The image captures her playful attitude and shows her in her natural habitat. She is perfectly at home and in the natural world and was fully at ease when placed in this setting. The vibrance of Lizzie and her accessories compared to the more muted tones of the ground and bench beneath her further emphasize her energetic qualities. The prominence of her ring in the portrait exhibits its great personal value and further reflects her love of all things organic.
My First Assignment at KCAI: A Bio for my classmate, Lizzie Dalton
Lizzie Dalton hails from the small town of Berryville, Arkansas, where she acquired her taste for excitement and action. This is reflected in her participation in competitive motocross, cheerleading, and volleyball. Here she also took part in many local pastimes including tailgating, bonfires, and school pranks, such as riding tractors to school. Despite her carnivorous diet and raucous activities, Lizzie is truly a hopeless romantic who enjoys walks on the beach, stargazing, and watching sunsets. She also enjoys singing, listening to Frank Sinatra, and watching black and white comedies. She is multitalented and versatile in her work and she makes an attempt to evoke specific emotions in her viewers through the utilization of color theory and texture. Some of her work is influenced by her love of the natural world and she appreciates pieces that reflect its gestural and organic qualities. She attended the Arkansas Governor School as a representative of her school’s art department. Lizzie is open to numerous majors but her current choice is graphic design.
