Nearing the End of Experimentation

Early this week, I have come very near my final pattern. There is still some room for changes to be made, but at this stage any alterations will be largely minimal or subtle. I have also acquired some t-shirts to print the designs on. I chose these because, as a male, I am not particularly interested by the prospect of creating a dress, skirt, printed pants, or any of those things that girls wear that seem to look the same but actually fall under very distinct classifications. A nice, simple t-shirt will certainly do the job.

Here all five prints are shown printed with a gradient coloration. This was another experiment that, while interesting, does not ultimately fit in with the image as a complete pattern.

A continuation of the gradient effect, with a focus on the tight spacing of the EKG blocks.

Bow and telephone cord play

Here I attempted to mix blue and red together to get a new gradient with little to no success. I will not be revisiting this combination.

This is a test print with a controlled stagger designed to give the pattern multiple directions of movement. Though intriguing, I do not think it will make it into the final piece, due in part to the muddling of the other blocks when combined with the telephone cord prints. Key details of the knot and the EKG print are lost in this configuration.

It should also be noted that at this stage I have fully removed any remaining lines in the blocks previously utilized for texturization in the effort to clean up the prints and minimize distractions from the key imagery.

This is currently the frontrunner for the final image. I find it to be concise, graphically appealing, and deep enough to invite a second glance.
