Reaction to the Graphic Design Symposium
This week's visual symposium was about the extremely diverse and rapidly growing field of graphic design. I was quite impressed with all the avenues for creation and expression available to those who choose to enter this career path. From typography to web design to animation to advertising, the options go on and on. However I was impacted the most by the concept of graphic design applied to the viewing of something as simple as a magazine through the medium of an iPad. When the video demonstrating the possibilities for viewing articles and images was presented, I was blown away by all of the new and innovative ways information is capable of being shared. I had never considered the possibility of three dimensional fashion shoots, playable videos within articles, or optional footnotes prior to the presentation. These were all very promising and intriguing ideas due to their accessibility and simplicity. I am excited to see what graphic designers of the future will be offering the world, and hopefully in some way I will be able to help push the boundaries of visual communication with them.
